Chandovani

The basic concept of Chhandovani is to promote good practices on dance culture in the society particularly among the new generation, in which the dances and songs are rooted in the Indian values (saat-sur), yet need not necessarily be pure-classical in its form and presentation.  Its aims to conduct workshops on teaching of Contemporary Dance practices to bring about complete harmony of body, mind and soul, Some of the programs held on this categories are given

Dance Workshop held in December 2008

Ganga-Zuari Academy of Film, Fine & Performing Arts conducted a Workshop on Contemporary Dance  to bring about complete harmony of body, mind and soul, . The workshop was open to all  the willing housewives, workingwomen, and girls above the age of 8 years residing in Goa.  Our expert danseuses  Ms. Ajanta Burman and Ms.Sangeeta Jadav  organized and conducted the Workshop to fuse the Kathak and Bharatnatyam based classical dance forms into the modern & contemporary dance structures to produce unique ballet expressed in tune to the instrumental and folk music by holding  about 24-day weekend-practices spread over three months for 4 batches of students. In collaboration with NIO (National Institute of Oceanography) Staff club Goa a program was conducted  on 19th. December 2008 at the NIO auditorium with packed audience of about 250. Director of NIO was the chief Guest. Prizes and certificates were given to eligible participants. Glimpses of the program is given in photo gallery.

Dance Contest 2009

All Goa solo dance competition based on Semi classical songs was conducted. The basic concepts of this program was  to promote good dance culture in the society particularly among the new generation, in which the dances and songs are rooted in the Indian values (saat-sur), yet need not necessarily be pure-classical in its form and presentation. In collaboration with Kala Academy GOA and Govt. of Goa the final was organized at the Kala Academy auditorium on 19 September 2009. The Honorable Speaker of the Goa Assembly Mr. Pratap Sing Rane was the Chief Guest on this gala occasion.  A total of 86 participants from all over the state of Goa appeared. They were screened down to only 11 contestants to perform on the final day. An overwhelming response from public was received.
